Rose & Ben’s Self-Officiated Summer Camp Wedding, Massachusetts

In the summer of 2018, Rose & Ben flew me out to Otis, Massachusetts to photograph their summer camp wedding! 🏕 Forgive me, I tell this story to everyone, but as a kid I wanted so badly to go to summer camp, but my Cuban immigrant mother didn’t think sending her daughter to “rough it” in the woods with a bunch of other kids was a charming idea. So when Rose approached me, I said, “Yes, yes, yes!”.

And from there I had the pleasure of experiencing a bugle 🎺🌅 waking me up in the morning, Rose & Ben’s camp flag flapping in the wind 🚩, a reception in the camp dining hall 🛡, the sun setting over the lake 🛶, my very own bunk, and so many other camp details that could make me weep. Rose & Ben also self-officiated their wedding and we made sure to capture a group photo of all their guests post-ceremony. But probably one of my favorite details is that Rose’s mother grew the flowers for her bouquet in her garden, making sure to plant them with enough time so they would be in full bloom by her wedding day 💐. I think that’s perfection, a complete example of the beauty that shines through actions when your loved ones come together to honor you on your day.

Rose & Ben, I give you a camp salute! I am happy you found each other so you never have to eat pie alone (unless you wanna). It was an honor to document it for you both and thank you for inviting me along for the adventure!

If you are interested in my wedding work, contact me below and tell me about your day. I travel everywhere and I would be honored to capture your moments.

I am fully vaccinated+boosted against COVID and interested to hear all about how you choose to mark the occasion during these times.
